Joni Parsley Daydream Believer
Saturday, March 31, 2018
My daydreams began as a carefree child and have never ended even though I’m no longer a child or carefree! Why do we want to grow up so fast? Perhaps, this is why I loved the story of Peter Pan because its narrative guides us through the adventure of those who never want to grow up and those who know you have to. However, it doesn’t have to be sad if you never lose your child-like wonder; the qualities of innocence, trust, delight in simplicity and dreaming you’re anything and anyone you wish to be. Wishes come true and so do dreams as one of my favorite songs defines, “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.”

Don't you just love when you don't take your own advice and are too ashamed to admit it after urging others to do something? Well, in a cyber world where we shame everyone from moms to poor dogs, I'm just going to be honest so shame me all you want! Do I need to wear a sign or hang one around my neck? If so, I'm ok with it! ...

Let's see, we left off with the question and the promise to answer. As I write, I promise you that my supermom cape was worn, torn, and tossed in the trash long ago. I realized that I could never be this character that was created in my mind which I claim was under the influence of the media and Martha Stewart! My perfect mom character lived in my daydreams where she would amaze my kids and all others!

*special note - Even though I've posted this before, it is the only message for Easter that I could write. I don't know another way to express the significance of those three words that validate the truth - His truth.

Those three words are perhaps the most powerful in the Bible. I’ve heard many Easter sermons, but my favorite part comes from Matthew 28:6, "He is not here, He is risen…as He said." People and preachers alike get so excited by the phrase, "He is Risen," and I certainly don’t want to understate that, but when I hear, "as He said," it speaks volumes that excite me even more! In Luke’s version in chapter 24, verses 6 and 7, the angels were reminding the women of what He told them in Galilee. I love verse 8, "and they remembered His words." That was all the proof that they needed.

Often, I get questioned – it comes with the territory. My husband always says, “I can answer anything with three words, 'I don’t know'”! Unfortunately, most people aren’t satisfied with that answer, so that leaves me searching far and wide to come up with something. There are some questions that have a definitive answer and others that have many. One question I struggle with, when asked, has to do with my son and his diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome (a high-functioning form of Autism) at age three.
